The vegetable share for this week includes carrots or beets, zucchini, cucumbers or pickles, greens (lettuce, kale, chard), cabbage, and sweet onions or scallions. The substitution will be herbs, kohlrabi, and celeriac.
The fruit share this week is tart cherries and plums from Singer Farms. This week we switch the fruit from Abers’ Acres. Orchard Park and Buffalo will get organic blueberries. The farm and Amherst will get organic black raspberries. Peaches are next.
The end of last week was dry and we are now caught-up with our transplanting and planting. We will be without lettuce in the shares for a few weeks largely because we were delayed planting because of the rain. Everything on the farm is lush and we are sure to see an explosion of growth when the sun and heat returns.
We hope to see you at our open house and farm Certified Naturally Grown certification inspection this Sunday, August 3rd. The time is 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Please bring a dish to pass as we will be having a potluck after the certification and farm tour.
