No posting last week because I could not log-in.  I am back.  Lots of rain and we had our first frost and our first snow last week.  Summer crops are moving out.  We are busy harvesting and filling up our coolers and assorted storage areas.  This week and next week will be the last Summer Shares.   We do have Season Extension and Winter Shares available.

I have been thinking about the farmers who have lost their crops this year to natural disasters.  I have a hard time imagining what loosing everything would feel like.  I hope I never find out.  What we can do is support our farmers who feed us and grow cotton for our clothes so they can recover.   I read about agriculture almost every day and what I hear farmers saying is that they do not want charity they want markets for their crops.

The Vegetable Share for the week includes Potatoes, Winter Squash, Eggplant, Greens, Tat Soi as a feature and Herbs (Cilantro, Fennel, Parsley).  The Substitutions are Radish, Japanese Turnips, Hot Peppers and Potatoes.

The Fruit Share includes a choice of Apples and Pears.
