Distribution from Jan.-March
When the share starts in January, you will be receiving roots, apples and other storage crops.
The roots include carrots, beets, celeriac, turnips, rutabagas, kohlrabi, and winter radish. Storage crops include; onions, potatoes, apples, cabbage, leeks, and winter squash. All the vegetables in our Winter share are certified organic.
The share runs until late March. This hearty fare is the perfect food for making stews, soups and sauces fortifying us for our NY winter season!
Buffalo and on Farm distribution sites available only!
Please note that while we are tentatively planning for the winter share for 2020, we are rebuilding storage facilities that we lost in our barn fire that happened in November 2018. Due to the uncertainties of site planning and building the large amount of storage facilities that are needed to store all the crops through the winter, we are only taking a refundable deposit for our Winter share with registration for the coming season. This does not impact this year’s (2019) Winter share. We didn’t lose our carrots, beets, turnips, celeriac, parsnips or winter radishes (thank goodness!)and all of these crops will still be in the winter share. We had crop insurance that will allow us to purchase cabbage, onions, potatoes from other area organic growers so that we can fulfill our 2019 Winter share.
