We’re trying to keep up with our weeding of that large brassica planting and had a couple of dry days to do so! We are harvesting our storage onions, pulling them out of the ground and laying them on the plastic mulch to cure before storing them away for the winter. We also started harvesting our potatoes to see what kind of yield we would be getting. Our winter squash harvest is also on the horizon. Looking at these crops allows us to start figuring out how many winter shares we will be able to accomodate. Happily we can say that we should be well stocked up!

Vegetable Shares for the week include: cabbage, choice of salad and cooking greens (siberian kale, arugula, chard, fennel, dandelion, etc.), sweet onions or scallions, the ever popular zucchini, watermelon or canteloupe, some choices between tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos and for Orchard Park, Amherst and Farm shareholders; sweet corn. Buffalo shareholders will get sweet corn next week. Abers can’t fill our entire order this week so we’ll have to stagger our offerings to make it fair for everyone. Cliantro, dill and parsley are our substitution items.

Fruit share: peaches, white peaches, plums, apricots and mango peaches
