Ingredient proportions can easily be adjusted to your taste.

2 c sauerkraut, drained
1 1/3 c chopped apples, peeled or unpeeled
1/2 c chopped walnuts, toasted if you like
1/2 c sour cream, or crème fraîche, or to taste
black pepper, to taste

1. Combine ingredients. Refrigerate until chilled before serving, if possible.
