No sugar in this uncooked chutney, though you could 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup if you like. This is good with pork, chicken, turkey, even baked tempeh. It could also be the base for a pie or other desert–raw or baked. Roll some up in warm tortillas and serve with ice cream.
2 apples, cored and finely chopped
2 pears, cored and finely chopped
3/4 c fresh cranberries, coarsely chopped
1/2 c chopped, pitted dates or other dried fruit, such as raisins
1/2 c chopped, toasted walnuts or pecans
1/2 c apple juice or cider
1 t grated orange zest
1/4 – 1/2 t ground cinnamon
1/8 t ground cloves
1. Combine all ingredients and refrigerate. If you like you can chop the apple and cranberries in a food processor by pulsing briefly a few times. Don’t turn it into a purée, you want some texture here.
