The cabbage and any other ingredients are cooked in a foil packet.
1 head cabbage (any size)
2 T butter or olive oil, plus extra for greasing foil
salt and pepper, to taste
optional vegetables/accompaniments: bell peppers; mushrooms; carrots; cherry tomatoes (these will probably burst during cooking); bacon (already cooked); etc.
1. Cut cabbage into wedges.
2. If you are using other ingredients, slice them up as well, to your preference.
3. Prepare foil by coating with some oil (you can use a product like Pam if you like) to prevent the cabbage from sticking to the foil. Place cabbage and other ingredients in center of foil.
4. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Dab butter or drizzle oil on top of cabbage.
5. Fold foil into “packet” by folding sides in first, then rolling ends (be sure there is no way the butter or oil can drip out). Cook on grill, covered, over medium heat* for about 30 minutes. The mixture is done when cabbage and other ingredients are tender.
*Medium heat for a grill is when you can hold your hand 5 inches above the grate for 5 to 6 seconds.
You can also bake this in a 300ºF oven.
