A nice combination. The spiciness of the mustard greens is tempered by the sweetness of the dates and the juiciness of the pears, with the onion providing the balance. Use regular pears if you like, and sub mizuna or tat soi for the mustard.
6 c or so chopped mustard greens
1/4 c chopped dates or other dried fruit
1/4 c chopped (red) onion
1 Asian Pear, or other pear, cored and thinly sliced or chopped
2 T lemon or lime juice
4 T extra-virgin olive oil
salt and pepper, to taste
1. Combine mustard greens, dates, onion, and pear in a salad bowl. Combine lemon or lime juice, oil, salt, and pepper. Pour over greens. Toss gently, and serve.
