Here are five topping ideas for popcorn, for those who would like a change from the standard butter/salt combination (not that there is anything wrong with just butter and salt). The topping amounts are based on a pre popped amount of 1/2 cup popcorn, along with 2 – 4 tablespoons of butter and/or oil. I always like to add a good sprinkling of nutritional yeast to savory popcorn toppings.

Parmesan/Garlic:
2 T grated Parmesan or Romano cheese
1 t salt
1/2 t ground black pepper
1/2 t garlic powder (or use 1 1/2 t garlic salt)

Hot Mustard:
2 t dry mustard
1 t salt
1/2 t ground black pepper
1/2 t dried thyme
1/4 – 1/2 t ground cayenne, or to taste

Curry:
1 -2 t curry powder or garam masala
1 t ground cumin
1/2 t ground cayenne, optional
1 t salt

Spicy Cinnamon:
1 t ground cinnamon
1 t sugar
1/2 t ground cayenne
1 t salt

“Hot” Chocolate:
3 T hot chocolate mix
1 t ground cinnamon
