…or white pepper, green pepper, pink pepper, Szechuan, or a combination. Freshly ground works best here. If you used a finely ground pepper, you will want to use only 2 teaspoons. Different vinegars can also be used. Honey, agave, or brown rice syrup are all good subs for the sweetener.
1 c extra-virgin olive oil
1/3 c balsamic vinegar
1 T coarsely ground black pepper
1 T maple syrup
1 garlic clove, crushed
1/2 t salt
1/2 t mustard
1 – 2 T fresh chopped herb, or 1 t dried herb, optional
1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl or jar. Stir or shake well. Taste and add more of any of the ingredients to satisfy your palate.
