1-lb green beans, trimmed
1 t toasted sesame oil (the dark stuff)
1 t oil (peanut, if you have it)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 t fresh gingerroot, peeled and minced
1/4 t red pepper flakes, or to taste
1 T soy sauce
2 T water
1 t sesame seeds, toasted, optional

1. Lightly steam the beans. You can do this up to one day ahead of time.

2. Heat the oils in a saute pan over low heat. Saute the garlic and¬†ginger in the oils until the garlic starts to turn golden (don’t let it burn).

3. Add the beans, red pepper flakes, soy sauce, and water. Turn the heat to high. Stir to combine. Cook for a few minutes until the water evaporates and the beans are shiny. Shake the pan and stir occasionally while the mixture is cooking.

4. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds if desired.
