What makes up a share? How much food is a share?Generally a weekly pickup of a full share will fill two plastic shopping (grocery) bags and will feed about 4-6 people. A small share is about 1/3 less food and will feed about 2-4 people. The individual share is approximately 1/2 of a small share, designed for singles and small households (1-2 people or families with small children). You may check out the various share pages for examples of what makes up a share in the summer or winter months, or you may consult our crop list. How is the share packaged?We send your produce to distribution sites packed in wax boxes and lay out the boxes farmers market style. We provide a list of what is in the share so you'll know how much to take of each item and what items are available for substitution. You package your share in your own bags, box or basket. And if you have extra bags, we can always use them! Where do I pick up my weekly share?You may pick up your share at any of our drop-off points, or at the farm itself. You would arrange with us which location would be where you want to pick up, and the share would be ready for you at that time and place. What if I am unable to pick up my share?If you cannot pick up the share at the usual time and place, you may contact us ahead of time to arrange for an alternate pickup time and place. If you are unable to pickup the share at all, such as going on vacation, you may arrange for someone else (such as a friend or relative) to pick up the share for you. Food from shares not picked up at all are forfeited for that week without refund, but will not go to waste. Food left over from distribution is used to feed our livestock or sometimes donated to the needy. Once I have my share, what do I do with it?You may be unfamiliar with cooking food this fresh, or greens and vegetables you may not have prepared before. For example, some things such as greens may cook faster because of freshness. Remember - you don't want to overcook your vegetables or they will lose some of their nutritional value.
